By means of this course, participants gain a basic understanding of the Linux operating system. They learn to use and configure the graphical desktop environment KDE. Basic system utilities for daily tasks such as finding files and managing processes are introduced. The course also touches on applications for text processing (OpenOffice.org, KOffice), e-mail management (KMail), and web browsing (Netscape, Konqueror). Linux system administration is not covered in this course.
